"Breastfeeding in public is still a taboo, but in some cases the design offers us a solution" - says Katharina Kurz, curator of the HfG-Archiv Museum in Ulm.

What does gender have to do with design? What does it mean to design in a specifically gender-oriented, gender-sensitive or, indeed, gender way?

This is certain: there is no neutral product.

From February 15th to May 19th 2019 a temporary exhibition is held at the HfG-Archiv Museum in Ulm, which aims to represent a reflection on gender in design. A question that is still unresolved: how do we want to live?

In this rapidly evolving world, the concepts of role change, new professional profiles, new targets, new principles and solutions, even in the world of design.

Design "for everyone": what does it mean today?

Now more than ever, it is time for a complete exhibition that links this question to both the genre category and the things that surround us. Presenting critical, playful, innovative and provocative solutions from applied design research and introducing both historical and contemporary positions, the “Not my Thing - Gender in Design” exhibition encourages the viewer to take an active part in this cultural and social debate.

Watch how the setup has been realised.

PlayWood was chosen to fully set up the spaces of the Museum in a simple and effective way: display and partition structures that can enhance and display the works and guide the visitor through the museum environment.

Modular, customized and modern furnishings. A project with a minimal design that has been able to perfectly interpret the needs and satisfy them at best.
